Mary Byrne booted from X Factor

Mary Byrne has become the latest contestant on the ‘X Factor’ to get the boot at the semi-final results last night (December 5), bringing the number of contestants down to 4 for the finals next week.

Byrne was voted out of the show by the judges after falling into the bottom two of the public vote alongside 17-year-old Cher Lloyd.

The two contestants performed in a sing-off, with Byrne belting out ‘This Is a Man’s World’ and Cher singing a tender ‘Every time’ by Britney Spears.

Although Louis Walsh saved Mary, his contestant, the other three judges decided to keep Cher.

This week’s results also featured performances from Alexandra Burke, the cast of Glee and the Black Eyed Peas.

The contestants in the final next week are Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle, One Direction and Rebecca Ferguson.
