Joey Santiago, who plays guitar for The Pixies, has admitted himself to rehab for unspecified drug and alcohol issues. 

The band's drummer David Lovering issued a statement on the news and explained that the band will still tour the UK and Europe as scheduled, but Santiago will remain in the facility for "at least" one month. He said:  

"This is the best thing that Joey could have done, and we're very proud that he's taken this step. We ask all of our fans to support Joey while he's on this road to recovery." 

Back in August, the band announced details of a full UK tour that will begin on November 28 in London and is set to run until December 8 where it will come to an end in Birmingham. Check out the tour dates here:
