Tove Lo: 'It's strange that people shy away from calling themselves feminists'

Songwriter and hitmaker Tove Lo has confessed that she doesn't understand women or men who shy away from calling themselves feminists.

Chatting to Billboard recently, she explained that it's not a negative thing to define yourself as so she finds it odd when people choose to distance themselves from it: “To me, it’s strange that saying you’re a feminist could be something women would shy away from... Or men, for that matter.”

She also discussed the title of her new album, Lady Boner, and explained that she wanted a title that would embody the relentless and powerful female spirit: “You know how when you’re talking about someone’s strength you might say, ‘She’s a chick with balls?’ Or if someone’s a coward, you might call them a pussy? That never sat right with me. Lady Wood is just a better word than ‘balls.'"
