Brian May has cancelled upcoming tour due to ongoing battle with "persistent illness"

Iconic guitarist Brian May has axed his forthcoming solo tour, which would have seen him perform 11 ‘Candlelight Concerts’ with Kerry Ellis in the three weeks leading up to Christmas.

He shared the news via a post made on his official website and explained that a "persistent illness" has caused him to make the difficult decision to cancel the dates.

The Queen legend wrote: "We’re very sad today to announce the indefinite postponement of our ‘candlelight’ concert dates this coming December."

“This is a decision I’ve agonised over, but in the end it has become inevitable. I managed to complete the recent Queen and Adam Lambert dates in Asia but I have been increasingly battling with a persistent illness which is destroying my energy and my will.”
