Cyndi Lauper on navigating her way through life: "There's a lot of darkness"

"Time After Time" sensation Cyndi Lauper has revealed that she has battled depression in her life, and sometimes at the highest points in her career, and she even contemplated suicide in the 80s.

She told Closer magazine that luckily she has learned how to "bring a lot of light" to herself over the years and likes to focus on the love she has for her family: "There’s a lot of darkness (in life), but there’s also a lot of light. I really try to bring a lot of light to myself. And I'm a family person. I love the heck out of them."

The legend added: "I don’t think I have ever achieved greatness despite everything I’ve done. But it’s not so much greatness, it’s happiness you need to focus on. Enjoying life is the best revenge. You have to stay connected to life and the things that excite you. Life is for learning."

At the end of October, Cyndi Lauper and Blondie announced details of a joint Australian tour that will see them play a total of seven shows in the country in April. For more information, click here
