5 stars who show compassion and inspire us with their actions

On a day like today, when the world makes little sense, it's nice to be reminded that people have the capacity for greatness and compassion so we have rounded up some of the most inspirational and heartwarming things our music stars have done.

1. Adam Lambert and his constantly advocacy for equality and LGBTQ rights, and his involvement in charity.

Over the years, the "Ghost Town" star has both lent his support and used his platform to campaign for LGBTQ rights, working on campaigns such as AT&T Live Proud and Nile Rodgers' We Are Family Foundation. He regularly talks about being issues close to his heart during interviews and gets involved with different kinds of charity work where he can

2. James Arthur and the way he's giving a voice to mental health awareness.

Former 'X Factor' winner made a remarkable return to the music scene this season with his stunning single "Say You Won't Let Go" and chart-topping new album, Back From The Edge, but he is using this surge in popularity to discuss difficult subjects and also became an ambassador for mental health organisation SANE

3. Jedward's involvement in the anti-bullying movement.

Cheeky twins John and Edward Grimes are known for speaking out about their own experiences of being bullied and last summer they gave an inspiring speech for the Diana Award Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme, which you can find out more about here. Back in March, the lads also took time out from their schedule to visit patients at the University Hospital Limerick's Children's Ark and make them smile.

4. Justin Bieber and his willingness to help others.

The Biebs comes under a lot of fire in the press, but the fantastic and selfless things he has done over the years are often overlooked. He also partnered with the charity Pencils of Promise to help raise money for schools in underdeveloped countries.

Back in 2011, he helped out a family on 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' by donating one dollar from every ticket sold at his concert that particular night to a cause that works to raise awareness of the dangers of texting and driving, which caused the death of one of their daughters. He also teamed up with the Children’s Miracle Network and donated a portion of the proceeds from his My World Acoustic album to the cause.

5. Madonna's support and involvement in the building of a hospital.

The Queen of Pop is currently helping to fund the building of the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital with money raised from her Raising Malawi Foundation. She also named a hospital unit building in Malawi after her adopted daughter, Mercy James.
