J.K. Rowling sends inspiring message to concerned LGBT Americans: "Be proud of who you are"

Following the U.S. election result, which saw Republican candidate Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton to the White House, writer J.K. Rowling offered some words of support to a worried fan.

A Twitter user shared the following post about Trump's victory with the 'Harry Potter' author and asked for advice on how to handle the shocking news: "We're scared. Every one of my friends is scared... we're part of the LGBTQIA community. What do we do?"

Upon seeing the message, J.K. Rowling sent back a heartwarming and inspiring response: "@HoopyRooster Look after each other, organise, become activists, hug, eat chocolate, keep falling in love, be proud of who you are xxxx."

She also tweeted: "We stand together. We stick up for the vulnerable. We challenge bigots. We don't let hate speech become normalised. We hold the line."
