Sting reopens Paris Bataclan a year after jihadist Islamic terrorist attack

Musician and singer-songwriter Sting reopened the Bataclan theatre in Paris, France last night (November 12) one year after the terrorist attack by radical Islamics who claimed the lives of 89 people.

The attack took place on November 13, 2015 during an Eagles of Death Metal concert and following the horrific event, the venue closed down for renovations.

Sting took the stage there last night to mark the official reopening and prior to his set, which was made up of songs from his career with The Police as well as tracks from his new studio album 57th & 9th, he shared this message on Facebook:

"In re-opening the Bataclan, we have two important tasks to reconcile. First, to remember and honour those who lost their lives in the attack a year ago, and second to celebrate the life and the music that this historic theatre represents. In doing so we hope to respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell. We shall not forget them."
