Singer Sharon Jones dies at the age of 60

Soul singer Sharon Jones has died at the age of 60.

Jones, who was known as being the voice of the Dap-Kings, passed away on Friday after an ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer.

She continued to perform, even while undergoing chemotherapy, but back in 2015 she publicly announced that the disease had returned and said: “I didn’t want people to come up and congratulate me on beating cancer when it’s back.”

Music stars have paid tribute to her on Twitter with John Legend sharing the following post: "So sad to hear about the passing of my friend and the soulful, dynamic singer I loved performing with, Sharon Jones."

Mark Ronson added: "Sharon Jones had one of the most magnificent, gut-wrenching voices of anyone in recent times. She'll be so missed. Too sad x." St. Vincent simply tweeted: "Sharon Jones. Thank you for everything."
