Miley Cyrus’ father has expressed his sadness over his daughter’s latest scandal after she was caught on film smoking a bong.

Miley, who turned 18 last month (November 10), was filmed at a party taking a hit from a large bong allegedly containing the legal hallucinogenic Salvia and collapsing in laughter.

The Hannah Montana star is seen in the video – obtained by TMZ.com – also swearing and talking about “tripping” on the drug.

Dad Billy Ray Cyrus broke his silence on the matter by taking to his personal Twitter account and apologising for the star’s behaviour.

He wrote last night (December 10): "Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. Im so sad. There is much beyond my control right now."
