George Michael's post-mortem proves "inconclusive"

Police have revealed that the post-mortem examination into the cause of George Michael's death was "inconclusive" and that more tests will be needed.

The BBC confirmed that there are no further details on this statement. Thames Valley Police said: “The cause of death is inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out. The results of these tests are unlikely to be known for several weeks. Thames Valley police will prepare a file for the Oxfordshire coroner. Mr Michael’s death is still being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.”

The music icon died at the age of 53 on Christmas Day and the cause of death was reported to have been heart failure.

Spotify streams of the legend's music shot up by over 3000% following the news of his tragic and untimely passing and ChildLine's Dame Esther Rantzen recently revealed plans to pay tribute to him with a special concert.

She told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "George helped us to reach out to hundreds of thousands of children through his generosity. I met him a couple of times, he approached us, rather than us going cap in hand to him, but it was an intensely personal gift. He didn't want it to be known or to be part of his image."

"I think it would be wonderful to celebrate him with a tribute concert next year. We were able to counsel 300,000 children who needed help last year, through emails, online and phone calls, and George made a palpable difference."
