New Year Honours List includes Victoria Beckham and The Kinks' Ray Davies

The New Year's Honours List has been unveiled and Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham will be appointed OBE for services to the fashion industry

72-year-old Ray Davies, of The Kinks, will receive a knighthood and told the BBC that the news was "a mixture of surprise, humility, joy and a bit embarrassed." He added: "After thinking about it, I accept this for my family and fans as well as everyone who has inspired me to write."

Other famous faces from the entertainment world who will be honoured include actor Mark Rylance, 'Keeping Up Appearances' actress Patricia Routledge, comic Ken Dodd, and Vogue's Anna Wintour

Sports stars featured heavily on the list and Jessica Ennis-Hill will become a dame, Andy Murray and Mo Farah will receive knighthoods, and 11-times Paralympian gold medallist dressage rider Lee Pearson is also set to receive a knighthood.
