Tom Jones says being dumped from The Voice was a 'kick in the bollocks'

Sir Tom Jones has criticised the BBC over the way it dumped him from the judging panel of TV talent show The Voice.

The Welshman was replaced by Boy George after three years for the show's last series on the BBC in 2016, but he has returned to the panel ahead of its debut on ITV.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Jones suggested he received better treatment at work on a building site compared to what he got from the BBC. He said: "I was pissed off. I never got to the bottom of who made the decision. It was between the production company Wall to Wall and the BBC, and I still don’t know why.

"The first thing I thought was, ‘Why have they left it so late in the day?’ When we got the call, we said, ‘When did you make this decision?’ ‘Yesterday. And we’re going to give it to the press tomorrow.’ Oh, that’s nice! Well of course that’s a kick in the bollocks. When I used to work in factories or on a building site, you’d get a week’s notice at least!"
