Mariah Carey breaks silence on 'mortifying' New Year's Eve performance

Vocal sensation Mariah Carey has opened up about her New Year's Eve performance, which was marred by technical problems.

She performed at Dick Clark's New Year's Eve event in New York City on January 31, but her mini-set didn't go well and she seemed visibly agitated by the issues that plagued it.

Tweeting about her stage time afterwards, she laughed it off and wrote: "Shit happens đŸ˜© Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! 🎉 Here's to making more headlines in 2017 😂."

She has now spoken about the performance to Entertainment Weekly and described it as 'mortifying': "All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business. I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.”
