Bruce Springsteen tribute band pulls out of Trump inauguration ball

Bruce Springsteen tribute band has cancelled their appearance at a Donald Trump inauguration ball event to respect the wishes of the musician they emulate.

The B Street Band were due to perform at the Garden State Gala at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington DC this week, but they have now cancelled their slot. They said in a statement:

"With deepest apologies to our fans and the New Jersey inaugural ball committee, the B Street Band is withdrawing from performing at this year’s inauguration gala. Our decision is based SOLELY on the respect and gratitude we have for Bruce and the E Street Band.

"Bruce’s music has been the foundation of our livelihood. The B Street Band would not exist without the talents of Bruce and our E Street brothers. We are most grateful to these rock legends and look forward to many more years of emulating and performing the Forever Music, of Bruce Springsteen."

Trump will be sworn into power as the new US president on Friday (January 20), but a number of acts have rejected offers to perform at his main inauguration event in protest against the divisive Republican.
