Ellen DeGeneres hits out at President Donald Trump's 'Muslim ban'

Ellen DeGeneres has taken a jibe at President Donald Trump’s ‘Muslim ban’ by pointing out the irony of him showing Findy Dory as his first movie choice at the White House last Sunday on 29 January.

The chatshow host played the lead voice in Finding Dory, a Disney animation hit movie about a forgetful little fish.

On the 27 January, under Trump's new rule, a four-month hold on allowing anyone into the United States from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Libya has been put in place.

DeGeneres commented on Trump’s ban by pointing out the irony, given his movie choice and the message behind it.

Describing fish Dory as an Australian on a journey to locate her parents in America, DeGeneres said: “I don’t know what religion they are, but her dad sounds a little Jewish. It doesn’t matter," before continuing that Dory and friends, once in America, are barred from re-entry by a large wall.

She said: “They all have to get over the wall and you won’t believe it, but that wall has almost no effect in keeping them out."

Degerenes then explained how Dory, who is still separated from her family, asks the help of “animals that don’t even need her. Animals that don’t have anything in common with her. They help her, even though they’re completely different colours. Because that’s what you do when you see someone in need – you help them.”
