Matt Cardle scores the Christmas number 1 single

The fight for the Christmas number 1 is finally over with Take That holding fort in the album chart with their latest record, ‘Progress’, and Matt Cardle in the singles chart with ‘When We Collide’.

Take That have made it their fifth week at number 1 and 2010 X Factor winner Cardle’s debut single went straight in at the top spot despite the recent controversy over the track’s altered title and various viral campaigns to keep him from the coveted position.

Biffy Clyro’s original track ‘Many of Horror’, from where Cardle's ‘When We Collide’ is borrowed, enters the UK singles chart at No.8.
