Annie Lennox given OBE in New Year Honours list

Ex Eurythmics' singer Annie Lennox has been recognised on the New Year's Honours list and awarded an OBE.

The 56 year old is an ambassador for Oxfam, a charity that strives to fight international poverty, and also launched her Sing campaign to raise awareness for AIDS in Africa.

The 'Sweet Dreams' star and activist said of the honour:

"As somewhat of a renegade, it either means I've done something terribly right - or they've done something terribly wrong."

"In any case, whatever powers-that-be have deemed me worthy of such a recognition, I'm getting my fake leopard pillbox hat dusted and ready."
