XFM unveils the shortlist for its coveted New Music Award

Radio station XFM has released its shortlist of artists for its New Music Award.

The finalists have all been voted for by the public and every act on the list is there solely because they are from Britain and released a debut album in 2010, which was the only criteria for nomination. The winning name will now be passed over to a team of expert judges that includes Shaun Ryder and Peter Hook. The finalists vying for the title are:

Delphic - 'Acolyte'

Dinosaur Pile-Up - 'Growing Pains'

Everything Everything - 'Man Alive'

Fenech-Soler - 'Fenech-Soler'

Hurts - 'Happiness'

Kele - 'The Boxer'

Marina And The Diamonds - 'The Family Jewels'

Sound Of Guns - 'What Came From Fire'

Stornoway - 'Beachcomber’s Windowsill'

Two Door Cinema Club - 'Tourist History'

The winner will be revealed at an exciting event on February 9 at London's popular venue, The Borderline, and will include performances from Luna Belle, Wolfgang and Romance. Check out the video for Marina and the Diamonds' 'Hollywood' here, which is in the running to win:
