Miley Cyrus was the lucky recipient of the Global Action Youth Leadership Award at the 2011 Global Action Forum and Events Gala. 

The ceremony took place on February 18 in Los Angeles and the 'Party In The USA' star was given a prize for her ongoing charity work with 'Get Ur Good On' and was named an inspiration by the organisation. Cyrus said of receiving the award:

"I never thought I would get an award from Hilary Duff, this is like a dream come true for me. She inspired me and now I'm here being able to inspire other kids."

"I got to go on stage and live my dream, and sing and perform and still be making a difference and that's what I want kids to do. I want them to do something that they love."

The 'Hannah Montana' actress and singer has endured a particularly turbulent time recently after being caught taking a bong hit and being accused of pole dancing at the Kids Choice Awards, but the recognition of her contribution to both charity and community will help to change this.
