Beth Ditto thinks Gossip aren't "hip anymore"

Beth Ditto has explained that she doesn't think her band, Gossip, is cool anymore.

The 'Standing In The Way Of Control' singer admitted in the new issue of NME that she feels the success of that single was merely a fluke and that people are no longer interested in the band's work:

"I say it sold a million records worldwide. Not so much in the UK, and nothing in America, but you go to Europe, where there's not so much focus on being hip, and it's wild,"

"People say, 'Well, you never wrote another 'Standing in the Way of Control'; I say that song was a complete fluke."

Talking about the band in general, she added that Gossip is now irrelevant:

"I know 20 year olds don't give a s**t about Gossip now. I actually had a moment where I realised, 'We're not hip anymore', around the hundredth time I heard 'Standing in the Way of Control' on the TV."

"I always enjoyed the freedom being viewed as 'cool' gave me. The access to things I never thought I'd have. I went to some brilliant parties! But I hated that people maybe thought I was a d**k."

"I did start thinking, 'When I was in school, I never wanted to be cool'. But I also never thought it would last. So I went hell for leather and enjoyed it until it was over. There was no strategy."
