Brian McFadden's new song controversy

Ex-Westlife singer Brian McFadden recently turned a few heads when his new single surfaced and was subsequently accused of being about date rape.

The track is called 'Just The Way You Are (Drunk At The Bar)' and features lyrics such as, "I like you just the way you are, drunk as shit dancing at the bar. I like it and I can't wait to get you home so I can do some damage" and "drunk in the backseat of my car, cos I like it and I can't wait to get you home so I can take advantage".

Soon after it surfaced, McFadden was hit with claims and defended both his song and its lyrics, saying "my new song is a tongue in cheek song about how i find it cute when my girl gets drunk... i am not promoting date-rape".

Finding the accusations hard to play down, he tweeted today, March 2:

"feel sick that my single is getting so much attention for the wrong reason. i love making music but i do not want this song played on radio"

"or being sold to profit myself if people think its about "date rape". its not about date rape. i'm gonna give all my profits from the song"

"to victims of rape. because it disgusts me. sorry people misunderstood my lyrics. someone let me know a worthy charity who supports victims"
