After declaring their break up back in 2006, Suffolk based theatrical rockers The Darkness have reformed and will perform in their original line up at this year's Download Festival. 

Frontman Justin Hawkins revealed to Newsbeat that the reunion has been a long time coming, and they're so excited to be making progress:

"It was frustrating for a long time to not be able to tell anybody because we've had to sort of keep it a secret."

"It was like a forbidden romance without the trail,"

He also added that keeping things fun and forward-moving will be the best way to approach this new phase:

"The main thing for us is to make sure that musically we turn the experience into something positive again."

"We've been remembering why it was so much fun in the first place, just four men making loud music in a room,"

The band are set to grace Download's stage on June 10 and the festival issued a statement about the upcoming performance:

"Multi-award winning Brit-rockers The Darkness, famed for their incredible live shows and whose hits include I Believe In A Thing Called Love, Growing On Me and One Way Ticket have reunited after a five year gap and will be performing at Download on Friday 10th June."
