Ricky Martin wins GLAAD award

Ricky Martin was honoured on Saturday, March 19 by the media group GLAAD for his confidence and work as a role model to the gay community.

He took the stage at New York's Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) awards ceremony to accept his trophy and gave a heart warming speech to the applauding crowd:

"GLAAD has helped me so much. A couple of months ago I was being attacked by someone in the media in Puerto Rico. I called GLAAD and I say "what do you do?" 'cause I'm new at this. And they said "don't worry, we'll take care of it" and they hopped on a plane and went to Puerto Rico and they did what needed to be done."

He continued:

"I just want to be free. I can say it, today I'm free."

"GLAAD, let's do it in Latin America and let's share the love."
