Rebecca Black reveals why she picked 'Friday'

Rebecca Black has spoken out about how she went from an ordinary school girl to overnight viral sensation during her interview with Jay Leno.

She revealed that a friend told her about Ark Music Factory, which sparked her interest in wanting to make a video:

"My mom emailed them saying you know, "my daughter's interested in becoming part of your company", and next thing I knew I was recording 'Friday'!"

"We skipped the first audition process where they have all the girls and guys auditioning so we met right at the studio, and I met privately with the two producers."

When asked what struck her about 'Friday', she explained that as a young teenager she felt it was age appropriate:

"I thought it was different because it's no indecent and saying all bad stuff like a lot of songs are about."

With so much popularity, Black also acknowledged there will always be negativity but is dealing with it in a healthy way:

"When I first saw it, I used to look at them all the time, I cried. You know, I'm 13. So being a teenager you care about what other people think of you."

Her video for 'Friday' has racked up over 38 million views on YouTube, beating Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' by over 10 million hits, and the track has scored around 2 million downloads from iTunes. Watch her interview with Jay Leno here:
