Live Nation cancels Japan fundraiser super gig

Live Nation has pulled plans for the scheduled fundraising gig, which was due to take place at Wembley Arena later this month, to raise money for the recent natural disasters in Japan.

No acts had been revealed to the press, but in a statement from the concert promoters today (April 1) it was admitted that a lack of artist availability has forced them to cancel:

"Unfortunately with now only 13 days to go to the proposed Concert for Japan, sadly we are in a position where we have been unable to secure the artists required to produce the worldwide TV broadcast that we had hoped for and have therefore very reluctantly decided to proceed no further."

The event, which was set to be in conjunction with Sony and Universal, was due to be broadcast on both NBC and the BBC to raise both money and awareness of the tragic events the country has suffered recently.

Despite this huge setback, the Brixton Academy Japan Relief Fund gig will still go ahead on April 3 with performances from Beady Eye, Primal Scream and Paul Weller. Watch Justin Bieber's recent message of hope and fundraising for Japan, here:
