One Direction writing own material

X Factor manufactured boy band One Direction are being given a considerable amount of creative input on their debut album, which they are working on at the moment.

The singers revealed to the Daily Mail that they "want to believe in" their music, and Niall said:

"We are involved in all the writing. The label wanted a young take on the music, so it’s important the album has our feel, our sound."

“The experience of recording has been eye-opening. We’ll never look at music the same way again after learning what goes on behind the scenes.”

After recently revealing that their debut single should be out some time in June, band member Louis explained that they know the sound they're going for but nothing is concrete:

"We want to get it right. It’s got a roof-down-enjoy-the-sun kinda vibe."

“We are recording loads of songs, so we still don’t know what will make the final cut of the album.”
