James Blunt loves to mess with the press

British singer-songwriter James Blunt, who is about to embark upon a headlining North American tour, has warned billboard.com that his sense of humour often gets him into trouble or, even better, in the news.

Speaking about his self-confirmed organ performance at Prince William and Kate Middleton's forthcoming nuptials, which he later admitted was a complete lie, the 'You're Beautiful' singer revealed his love for messing with the media:

"Like every English or British musician being asked one silly question too often, I gave a silly answer -- and then I went to my Wikipedia page and changed it to say 'classically trained church organist,' and 4,400 websites picked up on it,"

He also asserted that because the wedding is a royal occasion, it's unlikely that there will be a "pop star" musical guest:

"It was really funny. My publicist was really nervous but, you know, it's all in good humor. I imagine it's going to be a traditional wedding, and at most traditional weddings they don't have pop stars playing."

He is due to begin his tour tomorrow, April 20, at Boston's House Of Blues and will end the U.S run on May 8 before heading to Canada. His full tour dates are as follows:

  • April 20 - House Of Blues in Boston, MA
  • April 21 - Beacon Theater in New York, NY
  • April 23 - Tower Theater in Philadelphia, PA
