Katie Waissel will go it alone

X Factor 2010 finalist, Katie Waissel, feels confident in her ability to make it on her own in the music industry without the backing or support from former mentors Simon Cowell or Cheryl Cole

Speaking today, April 19, to metro.co.uk she explained that the current state of the music industry allows for a lot more independence:

"I think it's fantastic that you can write a song, record it and upload it for people to hear so i just thought "Well, why not?"

"I'm proud of of my music. I've been songwriting since a very young age, fans of mine were asking for it so it thought "Wicked, there you go"."

"It was really great to see it spread like wildfire and for it to be picked up here, there and everywhere."

She also explained that neither Cowell or Cole had kept in touch since her run on the popular talent show ended:

"She's [Cheryl] really cool. I'd love to have a big catch up and she's that kind of girl where we'd have a really great time but why would she call me?"

'We were on The X Factor and yes she was my mentor but it's not her job to be my best friend, you know?"

Waissel is currently in the studio recording vocals, but you can watch her recent interview on The Alan Titchmarsh Show here:
