Chad Smith, the drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers, has revealed the band will be releasing a brand new album toward the end of the summer. 

Talking about the forthcoming record, Smith explained:

"It's gonna come out the end of August. The last week of August."

He also told the Rock It Out Blog that the band are making great progress with it and have an abundance of tracks to choose from:

"It's been going good. We've been working on it, we've got lots of songs and we're just choosing the ones that are gonna be on the album, and it sounds great. Very pleased with it. Everyone's happy and healthy and ready to get back out there and play our music."
