A representative of Mariah Carey has confirmed that she and her husband Nick Cannon welcomed twin babies – a boy and a girl – today (April 30), which also happens to be their fourth wedding anniversary.

Carey’s representative Cindi Berger confirmed the news to the Associated Press, saying that the singer gave birth at 12:07pm EDT today at a hospital in Los Angeles. According to Berger, the baby girl was born first weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 18 inches long; then along came the baby boy at 5 pounds 6 ounces, and 19 inches long.

Berger said that Carey came to the hospital calm, believing she was going through false labour, while her husband found himself so nervous that he showed up in the wrong department at the hospital. He had to be led by a nurse to the correct ward. "It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit," Berger said.

The parents have yet to name their new arrivals and already have plans to renew their wedding vows on Sunday.
