My Chemical Romance dominate Kerrang! Awards nominations

American heavyweights My Chemical Romance and Avenged Sevenfold are leading the nominations for this year's Kerrang! Awards, with 5 and 3 nods respectively.

The 'Sing' rockers, fronted by flame-haired vocalist Gerard Way, received a staggering 5 nominations in the categories of Best Video (for 'Na Na Na'), Best Single (for 'Planetary Go!'), Best Album (for 'Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys'), Best International Band and Best Live Act. The band expressed their gratitude in a statement:

"The UK has always been one of our favorite places to play as band, and we are so grateful for these nominations and the continued support from Kerrang!, it's readers and our fans. Thank you for the recognition and we hope to see you this summer."

Avenged Sevenfold are up for Best International Band, Best Live and Best Album (for 'Nightmare'), but Britain is also being well represented as Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine have racked up an impressive 3 nominations apiece.

The rock magazine's deputy editor, Daniel J. Lane, revealed he can't wait for the ceremony on June 9 and is proud that so many UK bands are included in the nominations:

"I personally love the fact that our very own home-grown heroes Bullet for My Valentine, Bring Me the Horizon and The Blackout are going head-to-head with US heavyweights like My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and Avenged Sevenfold."
