Pressparty speak to Alexis Jordan

Pressparty sat down for a chat with Alexis Jordan this morning, who is over in the UK until Friday to promote her new single, and she answered some of our readers' questions.

The talented young singer, who is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation, has just released the video for her forthcoming track 'Hush Hush' and is currently in London where we caught up with her.

Earlier in the week, Pressparty and Alexis Jordan asked Twitter followers to send in any questions they wanted to ask her and here's what she had to say in response to them:

@DailyAlexis: You’ve already released ‘Good Girl’, ‘Happiness’ and ‘Hush Hush’ from your debut album, do you plan on releasing other singles from it because it would be great to see you showcase your versatility?

Yeah, but I couldn't tell you! I would love to keep doing singles from the record, I think we have a lot. I love doing music videos, so I’m excited! We’ll see what’s coming up next!

@Wedgiiestart and @LArockscoran: Do you have any plans to collaborate with anyone and if not, who would your ultimate duet be with?

My dream duet would probably be with Kanye West. I’ve done (a collaboration) with Tinchy Stryder on his album, but other than that no. Any artists I’ve worked with I couldn’t tell you yet! You’ll have to wait!

@Vante_Fenty: What’s your favourite thing to do in London when you’re not working?

When I’m not working I love to eat. I love to eat! So I’ll try to find a really great restaurant. I’m not a fan of your British cold sandwiches. I like really rich food!

@NatashaCondy: What do you like the most about London?

My favourite thing about London, other than the people than who like are so sweet when we’re out here, has got to be the architecture and the scenery. No one has, like, this old looking and stuff.

One of my favourite places to go was Florence, and of course London, and Switzerland’s beautiful and so is Belgium.

@Oli_Blishhh: How do you get your confidence?

My confidence has got to come from not only my mom, who’s always been there telling me that I’m beautiful, but I have to tell you that sometimes you have to tell yourself you’re beautiful because sometimes you don’t feel the best everyday. So that’s how I get my confidence, just kind of faking it sometimes ‘til you make it.

@RishaJalina: If you had one day left on earth what would you do and where would you do it?

Oh my gosh, if I had one day left on earth… what would I do? I’d sing for over a trillion people, grab a doughnut and there you’d go. I would love to go sing in like Japan or China, that’d be fun.

@TeamAlexisJ: Who taught you to dance?

Well, I took ballet when I was younger for two years and I’ve always loved movement and I love to dance when I sing, so some of it was natural and some of it was taught. Sometimes it’s hard performing dancing and singing live, only just because you have to go to the gym and work out more to keep everything conditioned.

@KJoshi_93: What advice would you give to those who want to follow their dreams?

I would stay focused and never let anyone tell you when you can’t do something when you know you can.

@ItsLaurenAlissa: Which song from your debut album means the most to you and why?

‘How You Like Me Now’ has the most meaning to me, mainly because a lot of people weren’t very supportive, like my friends, so to get to where I am now still having people giving me negative feedback for something that I was very happy that I did.

@JollyJollyJolly: Who do you look up to in the industry and what’s the best thing about being famous?

Wow, that’s really hard. I’ve got to say, Celine Dion’s career was very, very good and so was Mariah Carey’s. Those are like the iconic figures and they never really lost their game. They’re older and were really young when they started.

The best thing about being famous? Meeting all the fans because they’re all different and it just amazes me sometimes! I have to tell someone, I have to be like, “Oh my gosh, this person just went up to me and started screaming!”

@DylanProctor1: What are your sister Taylor’s plans for the future? Will you collaborate musically? Does she want to pursue a career in the industry?

Taylor wants to be a singer, she’s going to keep going for her dreams just like I did and she dances for me in the U.S sometimes. Anything is possible for my little sister.

@AlexisAngelsUK and @BiebzLonelyGirl: Is there anything you don’t enjoy about being famous and how do you deal with negativity?

Just people who make up rumours that aren’t really true, and I guess you just have to stick with the positive because it doesn’t mean anything because your opinion means more.

@Dizney01: What’s the best thing about travelling to different countries?

The best thing is seeing different cultures and trying new foods, which is something not a lot of people get to do and the worst thing is the jet-lag and often not understanding people. I probably live on a plane!

@DailyAlexis: You have the same kind of sparkle that Beyoncé had when she first started, how do you feel about that comparison?

Aww that’s so cool! That’s sweet to say! I think that I can keep reinventing myself, I mean artists do. They don’t stay the same through the whole career and I’m very excited to do that.
