Simon Cowell hopes X Factor USA finds "real life 'Glee'"

Simon Cowell thinks there is "a massive opportunity right now for a group of guys or girls" to take over X Factor USA.

The music mogul revealed that trends in the industry often go full circle and now would be the perfect time for a collective to win the hearts of viewers and even admitted he hopes to "find the real-life 'Glee'". During a recent interview with Extra, he explained his reasoning:

"Groups, groups, groups. Everything in pop music goes around in a circle. Just because there isn't a Spice Girls or a Destiny's Child or an N'Sync around now, it's time for a group like that again."

Talking about the kind of talent he wants to uncover on this series, he added excitedly:

"Have you seen this group called The PS22 Chorus? They were on the Oscars, they weren't great but their YouTube stuff is much better, but it was a singing teacher who put these kids into a choir, and they do their own version of contemporary songs."

"I want to find the next one of those. I'd like to find the real-life 'Glee', as well as the boy bands and the girl bands, choirs. I like choirs."
