Jai McDowall wins ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

In a shock victory last night (June 4), Scottish pub singer Jai McDowall won the public vote on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, beating out hotly tipped favourite Ronan Parke for the title.

McDowall clinched the £100,000 prize by less than three per cent of the vote over schoolboy Parke in the nerve-wracking finale. He will also have a slot performing at the Royal Variety Performance.

Afterwards, McDowall, from Tarbolton, in Ayrshire, gushed: "Absolutely amazing, just absolutely fantastic, I just feel really calm.

"It's a funny feeling, a really weird feeling."

Third place last night went to boy band New Bounce, while Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger made an appearance during the show, with performances of her singles ‘Right There’ and ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’.
