Demi Lovato opens up about her time in rehab

Former Disney pop star Demi Lovato spoke candidly about her time in rehab after finishing up her third studio album.

Demi spent November 2010 to January 2011 in a treatment facility for bulimia, anorexia, self-mutilation by cutting, depression and bipolar disorder.

She has been nothing but open about her recovery process and her hit comeback single, ‘Skyscraper’, has already been covered by Jordin Sparks

In an interview Demi said, "Cutting has become so common with so many girls and in almost every family people have tried it or experimented with it and there is addiction all over the place. It doesn't necessarily come from being a quote unquote child star."

She has received a lot of support from fellow stars, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson and Pete Wentz. She said: “There has been so much positive feedback, it's been so incredible."

"I hear that people like Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson respect my music and are even tweeting about it on their own time. I mean, it's just been so amazing and I've been so thankful and grateful.”

She said ‘Skyscraper’ is “something very inspirational and something that represents the journey that I've been on. But the rest of the album is a lot lighter and more fun.”
