Cher Lloyd's 'Swagger Jagger' will "shut a lot of people up" if it stays at No.1

Cher Lloyd is currently celebrating her success with debut single 'Swagger Jagger' after it shot in at No.1 yesterday in the midweek charts and feels that if the position is confirmed this Sunday it will "shut a lot of people up".

The 18-year-old singer revealed that she expected a strong reaction from the track, but a midweek No.1 was more than a pleasant shock:

"It's good, isn't it? I didn't really expect it, if I'm honest. I'm not complaining, though! I thought it would either go all the way or completely miss the Top 20."

She also said that public acclaim in the form of a high-charting first release will hopefully put an end to the negative criticism she often finds herself on the receiving end of, adding:

"It has shut a lot of people up, though - in the nicest possible way! It will make people eat their own words."
