Singer Gavin DeGraw recovering after New York street attack

American singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw has been released from hospital after he was assaulted in a vicious street attack on Sunday, August 7.

The star, whose song 'I Don't Wanna Be' was used as the title track for the popular U.S series One Tree Hill, was jumped during a night out in New York City after he opened up for Maroon 5 and Train. Tweeting about the incident, he wrote:

"Hi my friends. Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys."

DeGraw's publicist explained he suffered a concussion and broken nose, and that "Gavin and his family appreciate everyone's concern at this time."
