Sugarland cancels Iowa State Fair show after tragedy in Indiana

Country duo Sugarland cancelled their planned performance at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday (August 14) after witnessing the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday (August 13).

The incident occurred when a powerful storm ripped through the fairgrounds, which caused stage scaffolding and light rigging to crash to the ground when the band was due to perform.

Reports say that five have been killed, and over 40 people were injured.

The schedule for Sunday's (August 14) Indiana State Fair was scrapped as authorities continued the rescue mission to free those trapped under the heavy stage equipment. The fair is scheduled to take place until August 21.

Left shaken by the Indiana tragedy, the country stars pulled out of a similar slot at the Iowa State Fair, which was due to take place on Sunday (August 14).

Singer Jennifer Nettles told the Associated Press, "There are no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity."
