Queen to receive lifetime achievement award at BMIs

British rock icons Queen are to receive a lifetime achievement honour at this year's Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) London Awards.

The Bohemian Rhapsody hitmakers, comprising of late frontman Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, will be named BMI Icons at the annual event, which takes place on October 4.

The award, given by bosses at BMI, honours those who have had "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers".

Queen will be joining previous recipients such as Don Black, Van Morrison, the Bee Gees, James Brown and Willie Nelson.
