Friendly Fires trumpet player dies of heart attack
Richard Turner, a trumpet player who performed with Friendly Fires, has died at the age of 27.
Turner suffered a heart attack while swimming at the Herne Hill Lido. Lifeguards rescued the trumpet player from the pool and performed CPR but he later died at a hospital in south London, according to a report by London Evening Standard.
In a statement, Friendly Fires said Turner, who played with the band on and off for three years, was “an utterly exceptional musician and his contributions to our shows will be hugely missed”.
They also paid tribute to his compositions for his own band Round Trip.
“RIP to an unbelievable musician and friend,” Friendly Fires said.
