Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is set to take over from Amanda Holden as the role of Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical. 

Holden confirmed this morning, August 25, that she is pregnant just six months after going through a devastating stillbirth, so will now be unable to play out her term on stage as the lovable yet cursed princess.

An official statement was released today, which explained that Walsh will step into the character from October 5:

"We are delighted to announce that Kimberley Walsh will play the role of Princess Fiona in SHREK THE MUSICAL® at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane! Kimberley takes over the role from Amanda Holden two months earlier than originally planned, from 5 October 2011."
