Sales of PJ Harvey's 'Let England Shake' increase by 1,190 per cent

PJ Harvey's win at last night's (September 6) Mercury Prize has seen a phenomenal 1,190 per cent rise in digital sales.

Online retailer Amazon reported to the NME that her award-winning album, 'Let England Shake', is now in its album chart's top 5 and the company's head of music buying, Paul Firth, said:

"The Mercury Prize is an important award for any artist, new or established, and always has an immediate effect on sales. It will be interesting to see whether PJ Harvey will surpass Adele at the very top of the charts over the coming days."

Harvey's record is currently at No.9 in the UK iTunes album chart and its Top 40 midweek position will be confirmed later this afternoon.
