Ed Sheeran slams people who buy tickets to flog for a profit online

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has hit out at people who purchase multiple gig tickets only to sell them on for profit.

The 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' star spoke to BBC's Newsbeat about the problems that come with playing live gigs and explained that the worst thing to happen is when people mass-buy tickets and put them on sites like eBay at extortionate prices.

"If you buy my tickets just to sell on eBay then please don't. I have fans who want to actually come and watch me play instead of just making money."

"There are some people who just buy ten tickets at a time and just stick them on eBay for £150," said Sheeran. I have fans at gigs who come up to me and are like, 'I spent £150 to come here tonight'."

The talented young hitmaker added that he ensures his own gigs' tickets are priced fairly, but people always seem to take advantage:

"I specially put the prices at £10 or £12 because people can actually come instead of paying ridiculous prices."

Sheeran will kick off his UK tour on October 2 in Oxford and you can watch part of his recent Live Lounge set here:
