Cher calls The Ellen DeGeneres Show to speak with son Chaz

Pop icon Cher called into Ellen DeGeneres' chat show on Tuesday, September 13 to speak to her son Chaz Bono during his interview.

The 'Believe' hitmaker phoned into the studio and spoke about the recent controversy that surfaced when it was announced that Chaz had signed up to take part in the new series of Dancing With The Stars. Cher said:

"I don’t know if people are that determined... if you got that excess time and that amount of hostility, I’m not so sure that I can say anything to you that would make you change your feelings."

"Those are such feelings of hostility and fear, that I don’t know that I would have any magic words to make you feel more comfortable and to soothe you into not being terrified of my child dancing on Dancing With The f**king Stars."

She also opened up about her initial reservations over Chaz's decision to undergo a full sex change, adding "Chaz and I actually talked about this (sex change) several times over the years and then nothing happened. And in one way I thought, 'Oh God, this is going to be so terrible. He is going to have to go through so much.'"

"(But) the way he’s handled himself... My child is a wonderful child."
