No Doubt reveal new album's delay

No Doubt have confirmed that their forthcoming new album won't be released this year, contrary to earlier reports.

Back in April, platinum haired frontwoman Gwen Stefani explained that 2011 would see new material from the band and told fans "it's gonna be out this year. I really, really think it's gonna be out. We've got about ten songs done and we wanna just go in and do a few little, just in case, a few more and it's a really good record."

The band posted a statement on their official website yesterday, September 14, that revealed a delay in the record's completion. It reads:

"Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it's just not ready yet. We don't want to rush this album just to get it out.  This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it's the best album we can possibly make.  There is still more work for us to do..."
