Kelis admits that London still has significant race problems

Kelis has admitted that she still feels that London has problems with race "that need to be addressed".

The 'Trick Me' singer recently took a flight from the England's capital across to Spain and found herself a victim of racial abuse as directed at her by a fellow passenger. She explained to her fans on Twitter than a man called her a "disgusting Nigerian" and a "slave".

Speaking backstage after Vivienne Westwood's London Fashion Week runway show, Kelis revealed to the Evening Standard that although the issue has since been recognised it is still evident:

"Yes, it was a terrible thing to happen, but I'm a strong person and I can take it. I won't let that ruin anything for me."

"I have been coming to London for years because I love it here, I always have. But there are problems in this city that need to be addressed."
