Noel Gallagher slams The X Factor's 16-year-old age limit

Noel Gallagher has already spoken out about his dislike for this year's run of The X Factor, but he has now hit out at the young age limit because he feels that 16-years-old is too young for anyone to have their dreams shattered.

The High Flying Birds superstar explained to Absolute Radio that the contest should be open to people over the age of 18 and that anything lower than that should be seriously questioned:

"Oh, you're great but you're too young'. Well, don't put her through in the first place, then. They shouldn't put a 16 year old on that show."

His comments, that came after the shocking elimination of 16-year-old Amelia Lily, seem to scrutinise the show's apparent lack of morals at subjecting such young people to a potential life of pop stardom:

"It should be at least 18, because what would happen, conceivably, if the public voted a 16 year old into pop stardom?"
