2011 Q Awards winners include Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah and Adele

The 2011 Q Awards ceremony took place at London's Grosvenor Hotel this afternoon, October 24, and saw some of the best contemporary acts recognised for their contributions to music over the past 12 months. 

Grammy award-winning vocal powerhouse Adele picked up 2 trophies for Best Track and Best Female although she was unable to attend the event, and singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was crowned Best Breakthrough Act. 

UK rapper Tinie Tempah, who is about to embark upon a sold out arena tour, earned the prize for Best Male, pop hitmaker Jessie J won Best Video for her debut effort 'Do It Like A Dude' and the Next Big Thing title went to Lana Del Ray. 

The big awards of the day followed and saw Noel Gallagher handed the 2011 Q Icon Award, Coldplay received the Best Act In the World Right Now gong and Fatboy Slim was given the coveted Inspiration Award. 

Gary Barlow, who is currently working as a judge on The X Factor, scooped the 2011 Q Award for Classic Songwriter and U2 were named the Greatest Act Of The Last 25 Years.
