Nick Cannon "in a lot of mess" for dog prank

Nick Cannon has come under fire from animal rights group PETA for a radio prank involving a dog named Charlie Roo that went wrong.

The personality, who is a new father to twins Moroccan and Monroe with wife Mariah Carey, opened up about the stunt yesterday (November 10) on his 92.3 Now FM radio show and joked that he sent a dog into the sky on a string of 50 balloons, but it had since gone missing.

Video footage of the prank on the show's website appears to show a small dog fastened to a bunch of balloons that floats slowly into the sky as a shocked onlooker watches.

Unfortunately for Cannon, the animal rights group failed to see the humour in the skit and when Cannon appealed to listeners for their help in locating the missing animal, they took action. Writing on his official Twitter account last night (November 10), Cannon revealed:

"I think I might be getting fired... boss just told me Peta is on the phone. Damn... Radio bit gone seriously wrong @923Nowfm ... Probably won't have a job in the morning... They are saying the program director, my producer and I are getting arrested. This can't be serious!"

"@Notsam you and this dog thing have got me in a lot of mess. I knew I should've never listened to you #radiogeniusmyass"

He soon followed the explanation up with another message that read: "My lawyers are telling me to stop tweeting".
